Men's Tennis Wraps Up Fall Campaign At Texas Invitational

Milwaukee - Four members of the Marquette University men's tennis team will compete in the Texas Invitational in Austin, Texas beginning Friday, Oct. 31 and running through Sunday, Nov. 1.

Baylor, Denver, Lamar, St. Edward's, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Texas-San Antonio will join Marquette and host school. Texas. There will be two singles draws and one doubles draw, each with a maximum of 32 players or teams.

"It will be another great opportunity for the four players to get a chance to play in a high quality field," said head men's tennis coach Steve Rodecap. "There will be players from several of the top schools in the country playing and our guys are excited for that challenge."

Seniors Dusan Medan and Niko Boulieris, sophomore Jonathan Schwerin and freshman Otavio Perim will all represent the Golden Eagles at the event. All will compete in singles action, while Medan-Schwerin and Boulieris-Perim will pair up for doubles play.

Medan received the fifth seed in men's open singles play, and boasts a 10-4 singles record this fall. Schwerin and Boulieris have four and three wins each, respectively, while Permin has tallied a 6-5 individual record.

Medan most recently advanced through to the main draw at the 2009 D'Novo ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. at the beginning of the month. The Nis, Serbia, native posted three wins each in the pre-qualifying draw and qualifying draw before falling in his first match of the main draw.

Boulieris and Perim have teamed up once this fall, and the Texas Invitational will be the first of the year for the duo of Medan and Schwerin.
