Marquette Wrestlers Close Out Home Portion Of Schedule
Golden Eagles Battle UW-Parkside on Wednesday

Milwaukee, Wis. -- Head Coach Jim Schmitz and his Marquette wrestlers make their final home appearance of the 2000-01 season on Wednesday (Feb. 14) when they host UW-Parkside. The match will be held at the Marquette Gymnasium and will begin at 7:00 p.m. The Golden Eagles posted a split of two matches over the weekend, defeating Lawrence University, 20-18, on Friday before coming out on the short end of a 39-4 decision to Big Ten foe Northwestern. Freshman Phil Bronsteatter (Wausau) recorded a major decision against his foe from Lawrence at 141 pounds which rallied the Golden Eagles from a 16-18 deficit to the victory. Other MU winners included sophomore Paul Bugenhagen (Milwaukee) at 125 pounds, junior George Flannick (Milwaukee) at 197 pounds, freshman Mike Kratz at 174 pounds, freshman Dan Bernardo (Wheaton, Ill.) at 165 pounds and senior Jake Harreld (Carmel, Ind.) at 157 pounds. In the Northwestern match, Bronsteatter registered Marquette's lone victory, defeating the Wildcats' Josh Ballard, 11-3. |
