Original air date: Jan. 5, 2013

Christina Quaye begins her second season as assistant coach on the Marquette University women's basketball staff in 2013-14.

Quaye is responsible for the development of MU's post players in addition to recruiting and on-court coaching.

"It is a thrill to have Christina as an assistant coach," said Mitchell. "She was one of the most passionate players who have ever played for me, and she made her mark in the BIG EAST with her strong competitive nature. I look forward to her translating that passion to the post players."

Quaye served as a graduate assistant on staff during the 2011-12 season where she assisted with video coordination, community service initiatives and student-athlete development.

"I am ecstatic and truly blessed to have the opportunity to be an assistant coach at my alma mater," said Quaye. "After playing for Terri and Michelle as a student-athlete, I have a lot of respect for them as people and as coaches. They are great people to work with and I look forward to working along-side them. I love Marquette and bleed blue and gold. It is what I know. I am happy to begin my coaching career at home and look forward to the upcoming season."

Quaye was a four-year starter from 2003-07. She helped the Golden Eagles to 88 wins and four post-season appearances, including its best season to date during the 2006-07 season when the Golden Eagles went 26-7 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Championship. She earned First Team All-BIG EAST honors as a senior in 2007, while finishing the season ninth in the league in scoring, third in BIG EAST Conference games. As a junior, Quaye was an All-BIG EAST Second Team selection and an All-Conference USA Second Team honoree as a sophomore.

"Christina will have the unique perspective of being a former student-athlete who understands what it takes to be successful both on the court and in the classroom. I look forward to the impact she will make in her new role," added Mitchell.

Quaye finished her career with 1,720 points and 754 rebounds, ranking her fourth and seventh, respectively, on the all-time scoring and rebounding lists. She is one of five players in program history to register over 1,500 points and 700 rebounds for her career.

Quaye earned a bachelor's degree in business administration in 2007 and following graduation she played for various professional basketball teams in Greece, Spain, Puerto Rico and Germany.
