2000-2001: A factor underneath the basket, Seffern became a key component of the Marquette offense. Playing as both a center and forward, Seffern showed the ability to extend her range to get a shot, as she did against Wis.-Milwaukee. She recorded 11 points on 3-of-6 shooting and 5-8 from the line. She added seven rebounds in that contest to lead all Marquette players in that category. A starter in all but three contests, Seffern averaged 24 minutes and 5.0 points per game last season. She logged seven-rebound games against Dayton and Michigan and a seven-point performance against Brigham Young. Seffern was part of Marquette's strong inside game against DePaul, scoring eight points on 2-of-2 field goal shooting and 4-of-4 free throw shooting. She hit her first career three pointer against Colorado State, scoring eight points. Seffern was a valuable player against Memphis, scoring a career high 13 points. She tied her career high in scoring and set it in rebounding with 13 points and nine boards against DePaul. She again tied a career high in scoring with 13 points against Saint Louis. Seffern earned her first career double double against Louisville with 10 points and a career high 11 rebounds. 1999-2000: Seffern led all newcomers with 11.2 minutes played per game and averaged 1.4 points and 2.0 rebounds per game. She played in 26 games, starting one, but missed three games at midseason with tendonitis in her knee. In her season debut, she opened the season with a strong performance against Iowa, helping Marquette seal a victory by scoring five of her career-high seven points in the game's final minute. She earned her first career start against Louisville, registering career-highs of eight boards, three blocks and a steal. Seffern scored six points and four boards in 16 minutes at Saint Louis. She tossed in five points and four rebounds against Saint Louis later in the season. 1998-99: Seffern played three times and saw action in just 15 minutes on the season before being sidelined with an injury. She played in each of the first three regular season games, but missed the remainder of the year after being diagnosed with a stress fracture on the top of her left foot. She redshirted as a result. High School (North Fond du Lac): Exiting high school, Seffern held school records for career points and rebounds, finishing her career with 1,471 points. She led her team to the WIAA State Championships as a sophomore and junior. A four-year starter and all-conference first team selection, Seffern earned all-state in basketball in her sophomore, junior and senior seasons and was the Fighting Orioles' MVP all four seasons. Her AAU team finished eighth nationally in the summer of 1999. She also played volleyball and softball, earning all-conference first team in volleyball as a sophomore and junior. She was also an all-conference selection in each of her four seasons in softball. She earned all-area in volleyball, basketball and softball. Seffern was a WIAA Scholar-Athlete as a senior. She graduated fourth in her class of 70 with a 3.9 GPA. She was coached by Gary Kuehl. Personal: Born June 19, 1980, Seffern is the daughter of Mary Beth and Douglas Seffern. She has two brothers. Her mother played volleyball, basketball and softball at Wis.-Oshkosh. She is a physical therapy major. |
