It was a tough-shooting night for Marquette, which dropped its BIG EAST home lid-lifter and first league contest of the season to visiting Creighton, 83-63, at the Al McGuire Center on Monday.

The Golden Eagles (11-3, 2-1 BIG EAST) held a lead early on in the first quarter, but were unable to find consistency from the floor as they shot 36.1 percent (26-71), including just 2-for-17 from three-point range.

Erika Davenport and Amani Wilborn led MU with 14 points apiece with Davenport adding a game-high eight rebounds. Danielle King chipped in 10 points – all coming in the first half.

The Bluejays (9-4, 3-0 BIG EAST) put five players in double-digit scoring led by Brianna Rollerson’s season-high 22 points on 10-for-14 shooting. Audrey Faber added 21, while Sydney Lamberty chipped in 10 points and 12 assists. CU shot 51.6 percent (32-62) from the field and finished 8-for-21 from long distance.

Marquette trailed Creighton, 45-36, at halftime. King poured in 10 first-half points to lead all MU scorers, but the team shot just 39.5 percent (15-38) from the field, including 1-for-9 from downtown. Creighton was led by Audrey Faber’s 16 points as the Bluejays shot 48.5 percent (16-33), including 5-10 from downtown.

Marquette will be back in action and remain at home to face Providence on Wednesday, Jan. 4. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. Central time and the game will air live on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
