Marquette Falls, 99-68 at No. 23 Seton Hall

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. -- Danielle King's 16 points led three players in double digits as the Marquette University women's basketball team fell in a 99-68 decision at No. 23 Seton Hall on Sunday afternoon.
In addition to King, Natisha Hiedeman and Allazia Blockton tallied double figures with 15 and 14 points, respectively, while Shantelle Valentine and Erika Davenport added nine points each for the Golden Eagles (5-8, 0-2). Blockton and Davenport paved the way on the glass with seven rebounds.
Seton Hall (13-1, 3-0) was led by Tabitha Richardson-Smith whose 20 points paced six players in double figures.
MU missed its first nine shots to open the game as Seton Hall got off to a 15-0 lead in the opening minutes. The Golden Eagles ran with an 8-0 stretch over two minutes of play, but the momentum stayed in the Pirates favor as Marquette shot just 27.8 percent in the first half.
The Golden Eagles finished the day shooting a combined 25-for-74 (33.8 percent) and hit five three-point shots, but was outscored in the paint, 56-24. The Pirates also owned a slight edge on the glass with a 49-41 advantage.
The Golden Eagles will play a final road game before returning home as the squad takes on St. John's Tuesday, Jan. 5 at 6 p.m. Central time. The game will air live on the BIG EAST Digital Network with Ralph Bednarczyk and Megan Hughes Perry calling the action from Carnessecca Arena.
