MILWAUKEE-- Career records and season highs toppled as the Marquette women's basketball team handled Providence with ease in a 105-75 victory on Friday evening at the Al McGuire Center. It was the second time this season that the Golden Eagles (8-11, 3-5) recorded 100-or-more points and the 105-point tally was a season high in the BIG EAST this year.

Marquette had an impressive seven players record double digits, led by 18 points from Natisha Hiedeman, while Erika Davenport and Allazia Blockton each poured in 17 points. Danielle King tallied 15 points as McKayla Yentz and Amani Wilborn notched 12 points, and Shantelle Valentine rounded out the group with 11 points.

Valentine recorded her first career double-double as she also grabbed a career-best 11 boards, while Wilborn and Hiedeman earned career high totals with nine and seven assists, respectively. As a team, Marquette dished out a season-best 29 assists.

The Golden Eagles opened the game with a 19-2 lead in the first four minutes of play before Providence (4-14, 0-8) went on a run to pull within five points at the end of the first quarter as MU held a 26-21 lead. The Golden Eagles went into halftime with a comfortable 60-39 lead, which was the most points scored in a half by the squad.

Marquette finished the game shooting 48.7 percent (38-78) from the field and shot 37.0 percent (10-27) from beyond the arc. The Golden Eagles outrebounded the Friars, 44-38, and grabbed 50 points in the paint.

Sarah Beal led a trio of Friars in double figures with 21 points, while Maddie Jolin tallied 20 points.

The Golden Eagles will next host Creighton on Sunday, Jan. 24. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. Central time, live on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
