Head Coach Terri Mitchell
"There isn't a person in that locker room that isn't sick of losing. Our program is not used to losing these close games we've been in. Obviously, Syracuse is having a fantastic year and I'm not taking anything away from Syracuse, but we have a personal belief that we are better than our record shows. We have fight in us and we have periods of the game where we have breakdowns, which showed at the end of the first half, but we still came back strong. I'm just so upset and frustrated for these guys, but we know there's a lot of basketball left. Our league is a monster and Syracuse is just another team that has done an incredible job. We're just excited about continuing on in the conference."
What was the plan on that last play?
"We were down three, so if you can get a quick two get it, turn around and pick up to try and get a five second call...At that point, we just wanted to try and get a bucket and see if she could draw a foul because there was only six seconds left."
About the crowd in the Carrier Dome:
"I don't think the noise affected our communication. The crowd was awesome, and it's great. The better Syracuse is the better our league is. It's great for everybody."
About the turnovers in the first half:
"Yeah, those 17 turnovers were fun. I think we were both pressing instead of letting the game come to us. But I think (both teams) were playing aggressive defense and getting in the passing lanes. We made a lot of our turnovers in the middle of the court and we talked about that at halftime. That's how they get a lot of easy buckets and if we can eliminate turning it over in the middle of the court we will be much better. And it was a much better game in the second half, very entertaining.
