MU Rallies for 74-61 Victory at St. John's

QUEENS, N.Y. - After trailing as much as 23 points, the Marquette women's basketball team scored 39 points in the second half to come back to defeat St. John's, 74-61, Wednesday night at Carnesecca Arena.

The Golden Eagles (19-8, 10-6) were led by senior Katie Young with a game-high 26 points and 12 rebounds en route to her 11th double double this  season. Classmate Katherine Plouffe tallied 15 points, while sophomore Brooklyn Pumroy added 12 points.

MU had an eight minute stretch in the first half without a field goal and trailed the Red Storm by 23 points with 9:27 remaining.

Down 38-19 at the 3:52 mark, the Golden Eagles went on a 16-4 with seven points from Young in that frame, and trailed just 42-35 going into the break. Marquette shot 41.7 percent (10-24) in the first, including three 3-point baskets.

Marquette will return home and play its final home game of the regular season on  Saturday, March 1 against Creighton. The game will be broadcast live on FOX Sports 1 beginning at 2 p.m. Central time.

Saturday is Senior Day and seniors Plouffe, Young and Courtney Thomas will be honored in a postgame ceremony.
