HARTFORD, Conn. -
Head Coach Terri Mitchell
"We are really just excited to play finally, it seems like it took forever for us to play. I know we don't win any prizes for offensive performance, but we had the shots and we adjusted them at halftime and talked about how we are getting the shots inside, but we are rushing them they had such a presence in the paint they are so good. I think we settled down a little bit, but I don't think we had a good shooting percentage, are looks were better instead of rushing so much. I think are biggest indicator is our turnovers, 11 in the first half and only three in the second half. We reversed it we were much more patient, but it was a great game, Pittsburgh is a great team and I know they are going to do some things in the NCAA Tournament. We are excited about are progress, last year in the BIG EAST Tournament we bowed out in the first round, so are only goal was to win a game in the BIG EAST Tournament and we accomplished that goal."
About shooting at the Civic Center:
"We had to get used to the court and the background. We only had 40 mintues Saturday to shoot and get adjusted to everything. Our shots were not square to the basket and that is why I think we had some problems. I think we just had to get the game under our belts and hopefully we will shoot better tomorrow."
"They are a great defensive team and we knew that the last two times we have played them. It was hard to get our shots up (in the last game against Rutgers). It taught us a lot and honestly, we had three great practices after playing them earlier this season. They have a great inside-outside game and they are a team that has been here before. We haven't, but we will play hard and see what happens."
