Marquette Head Coach, Terri Mitchell
On the uptightness of Marquette's play: I think we wanted it so badly it paralyzed us. I think we've talked about it so much. We talked about wanting to win a two-game tournament. We kept it simple and I do think there is a psychology in it when you want something so bad that it slows you down and you're thinking too much and we prepared them extremely well; I mean we had the game plan. But then it was like things couldn't go our way. Usually our defense creates our offense but because Oklahoma did such a great job of shutting us down offensively we were having defensive breakdowns which is just a worse case scenario. But it happened and we're just...but we fought in the second half.
On taking advantage of Courtney Paris on the bench: We sure couldn't. Christina is one our team that never misses shots which she did but it is a total team effort. We just weren't making the extra pass. We talked about getting it to the short corner or the high-pro side of the cell. We did it a few times and when we did we scored but we didn't consistently do it. That was the perfect opportunity to take advantage and we didn't and I think when we saw that going with a 10 point deficit on the bench that wasn't a good sign.
Sr., Forward, Christina Quaye
On playing against Courtney Paris: She's a great athlete. You have to give her a lot of credit. She's a great player, I'll leave it at that. We had a defensive effort and she caught us off-guard a lot of times but at the same time we're not as ready as we would have liked to have been.
So., Guard, Krystal Ellis
On the comparison between Oklahoma and the teams in the BIG East: Well they are a good team. To be in the BIG East Conference was really great. We played against Rutgers and Connecticut and their defense is outstanding and to compare them to a team in the Big 12 like Oklahoma, you can compare their post play because in the BIG East you have Kia Vaughn and Tina Charles, and here you have Courtney and Ashley Paris, so I think it's a lot similar than the post players. Then with their guards, they are similar to the ones in the Big East also.
