Marquette Head Coach Terri Mitchell

Opening Statement...
"We knew it wouldn't be easy coming in here, and we have a lot of respect for Kentucky in regards to the way they play. We're just excited to keep going. In this time of year, March is magical. I was really proud of our defense in the way we defended and kept them (Kentucky) to one shot for most of their possessions in the first half. We have a lot of respect for Samantha (Mahoney) because of the kind of player she is and her ability to carry the team. For our sake, it was Krystal's (Ellis) day today. Our team is very unselfish, and when we have a hot shooter like she was today, the team kept finding her and screening for her. Kentucky has a lot to celebrate from this season, and their four seniors did wonderful things for this program. I'm happy to be able to get up tomorrow and practice again."

On Kentucky's 12-0 run in the second half...
"The game is all about runs, and we knew Kentucky would make a run because they're at home and the crowd was behind them. I just needed to talk to them and get back to basics. For us, it all starts with defending and executing. We started to take some quick shots, and when we missed, they (Kentucky) were going the other way. We changed our defense to throw something different in and give our players a different focus."

On the play of Krystal Ellis...
"We talked a lot about moving without the ball. It's great when anyone's scoring and I don't care who does it as long as we do it as a team. I thought Angel (Robinson) did a great job of finding her and setting screens. We did a lot of screens with our post players, and that forced them (Kentucky) to switch out their defensive advantage."

On UK's Samantha Mahoney...
"She deserves all the respect in the world and we tried to keep pressure on her and stay out on her. If anyone was in jeopardy, we were going to switch. We kept someone in front of her and wanted to make it difficult for every shot. She was going to be a constant target for us because we've watched her a lot on film."

On scoring a career high 40 points...
"My teammates kept finding ways to get me open so I knew I'd score if I kept getting the ball. There were a couple of times where Angel (Robinson) was open, and I tried to do the same for her. My teammates just did a great job today setting screens for me."
