ST. THOMAS, U.S.V.I - Marquette had three Golden Eagles score in double figures, but fell 71-51 to Michigan in the finale of the 2011 U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam. Katherine Plouffeearned a spot on the all-tournament team and the Golden Eagles finished third in the Reef Division.

Sarinia Simmons led Marquette (3-3) with 14 points, while Cristina Bigica and Arlesia Morseeach contributed 11 points. Tournament MVP Courtney Boylan scored a game-high 16 points for Michigan (7-0).

The Wolverines jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead before Gabi Minix scored MU's first basket of the game at 17:18 mark. The Wolverines pushed that lead to 16 points, 23-7, following a 15-2 run midway through the first half.

The Golden Eagles cut the deficit to eight points, 27-19, with 6:13 left in the first thanks to a 12-4 run highlighted by a pair of 3-pointers by Simmons. Michigan out-scored the Golden Eagles, 13-7, over the final six minutes to go into halftime with a 41-26 advantage.

Simmons knocked down her fourth 3-pointer of the game one minute into the second half before the Wolverines scored the next 11 points and to hold a 52-29 lead. The Golden Eagles were only able to get as close as 19 points for the remainder of the game.

Head coach Terri Mitchell will look for her 300th win Tuesday, Nov. 29 when the Golden Eagles host New Orleans at the Al McGuire Center at 7 p.m.
