No. 23/17 Green Bay Tops Marquette, 66-50

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Katherine Plouffe, Apiew Ojulu and Arlesia Morse all scored in double figures, but it was not enough as the Marquette University women's basketball teams dropped its first true road contest of the 2011-12 season Friday evening at No. 23/17 Green Bay, 66-50.
Plouffe led Marquette (4-4) with 15 points, while Morse and Ojulu each contributed 11 points in the loss.
Adrian Ritchie paced Green Bay with 15 points, and Julie Wojta, Lydia Bauer and Megan Lukan added 12 points apiece to help the Phoenix remain undefeated at 6-0 overall.
Leading by only a point at halftime, 29-28, the Phoenix opened the second half with a 10-2 run to go ahead nine points, 39-30.
Marquette chipped away at the deficit to come within two points, 45-43, following Cristina Bigica'sthree-point play with 10:23 left in the game, but the Phoenix answered with a 12-2 run capped by a three-pointer by Sarah Eichler to lead 57-45 with 4:52 to play. Green Bay held on to the double-digit advantage for the remainder of the game.
For the game, Marquette hit 38.1 percent of their field goal attempts, but went 0- for-13 from long range.
The first half featured four lead changes and MU led by as many as four points with 4:13 to play in the first frame.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action Sunday, Dec. 4 at the Al McGuire Center when they host Arkansas Pine Bluff at 2 p.m.
