WASHINGTON, D.C. – Sophomores Allazia Blockton and Natisha Hiedeman led Marquette to its fifth straight victory and a 2-0 start in BIG EAST play following an 84-77 triumph over Georgetown on the road Friday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles (11-2, 2-0 BIG EAST) used a 13-0 run in the first quarter to erase a five-point deficit and never trailed again as they dispatched the Hoyas to complete a perfect 2-0 road trip and start to league play. Blockton led all scorers with 21 points, six rebounds and five assists, while Hiedeman added 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting, including 5-of-11 from long distance.

Hiedeman was on fire from beyond-the-arc in the first half as she reached 13 points in just the first quarter, connecting on four three-point shots. Marquette combined to hit a stellar 8-for-14 in the first half for 57.1 percent and held a 46-37 lead over the Hoyas at the break.

Danielle King and Amani Wilborn each chipped in 12 points apiece as Marquette shot 40.6 percent (28-69) from the field as a team, including 11-24 from three-point range.

Georgetown (8-4, 0-2 BIG EAST) put four in double figures with Didi Burton leading the way with 19 points and seven rebounds. The Hoyas shot 43.1 percent (28-65) from the field, while going just 4-18 from downtown.

Marquette will return home on Monday, Jan. 2 to host Creighton at 7:30 p.m. Central time. The game will air live on FS1 with Lisa Byington and LaChina Robinson calling the action from the Al McGuire Center.
