Marquette Drops a Close Game at Creighton, 83-81
The Marquette University women's basketball narrowly fell at Creighton on Friday evening, 83-81, after the game had seven ties and 11 changes and came down to a back-and-fourth final quarter.

MU has won five in-a-row since a home loss to fellow Wisconsin school Green Bay on Dec. 6 and will look to continue the recent success against the Bluejays.

Sophomore Allazia Blockton leads the BIG EAST with 17.7 points per game and has tallied a league-best seven game with 20-or more points in a contest, while Erika Davenport is the league-leader with eight double-doubles this year. Davenport also leads the BIG EAST on the glass as she is grabbing 10.5 boards and is averaging a double-double with 13.3 points, which is 12th in the conference. Natisha Hiedeman ranks eighth in scoring with 13.9 points per night and is seventh with 4.0 assists.

Creighton also opened BIG EAST play with a 2-0 start after picking up home wins over Butler and Xavier. The Bluejays are 8-4 overall and are paced by Audrey Faber with 13.8 points per contest, which is 10th in the BIG EAST, while Marissa Janning ranks 20th in the league with 11.0 points per game in her first season back after an injury last year.

The Bluejays own a 9-4 advantage in season series, including winning three of the last four, though Marquette bested them in Milwaukee last season.

Marquette will host Providence on Wednesday, Jan. 4 at 7:00 p.m. CT before heading back on the road for two games. Wednesday game will air on the BIG EAST Digital Network with Kent Sommerfeld and Kyle Dlaby on the call.
