Marquette Welcomes Providence on Wednesday

MILWAUKEE--The Marquette women's basketball team is back in action and will look to return to winning ways as the Golden Eagles welcome Providence to the Al McGuire Center on Wednesday, Jan. 4 at 7 p.m. Central time.
The game will air live on the BIG EAST Digital Network with Kent Sommerfeld and Kyle Dlaby handling announcing duties.
The Golden Eagles (11-3, 2-1) had a five-game winning streak snapped by Creighton on Monday night, falling 83-63. Erika Davenport and Amani Wilborn paced the team with 14 points apiece, while Davenport grabbed eight boards.
Allazia Blockton continues to lead Marquette and is second in the BIG EAST with 17.1 points per game, while she ranks 15th in rebounding with 5.6 caroms. Erika Davenport and Natisha Hiedeman check in at 14th and 15th in the league with 13.4 points and 13.2 points per night, respectively. Davenport is averaging a double-double with a league-best 10.4 rebounds, while her eight double-doubles this year are also a BIG EAST-best.
Marquette is second behind DePaul in scoring at 77.4 points per contest and second in rebounding, taking down 41.7 boards nightly, though the Golden Eagles are league leaders with a +6.3 rebounding margin over their opponents.
Wednesday is the 16th meeting between the Friars and the Golden Eagles and MU owns an 11-4 all-time record in the series, including four in-a-row. PC last defeated Marquette in a 66-58 victory at the Al McGuire Center on Jan. 23, 2015.
Marquette will have another quick turnaround following Wednesday's game and will head east to face St. John's on Sunday, Jan. 8 at 1 p.m. CT before continuing on to Seton Hall on Tuesday, Jan. 10 at 6 p.m. CT. Both games will air live on BEDN via Fox Sports GO.
