Marquette Set to Face St. John's on Tuesday Night

NEW YORK--The Marquette University women's basketball team will take on St. John's on Tuesday, Jan. 5 at 6 p.m. Central time, which will conclude a five-game road stretch for the squad. The game will air live on the BIG EAST Digital Network with Ralph Bednarczyk and Megan Hughes Perry calling the action from Carnesecca Arena.

The Golden Eagles (5-8, 0-2) will look to get their first BIG EAST win on Tuesday after falling to No. 25 Seton Hall on Sunday. On Monday, freshman Allazia Blockton earned her sixth consecutive weekly BIG EAST award with a spot on the honor roll for the week-ending Jan. 3. Blockton continues to lead Marquette with 17.8 points per game, which is third in the conference and the league's top freshman scorer. She is also MU's leading rebound at 7.5 boards per game, while Erika Davenport and Shantelle Valentine average 6.4 and 6.3 rebounds, respectively.

Marquette Falls 64-52, at Home to St. John's
The Marquette University women's basketball team (6-19, 2-12) faltered in the second half and fell 64-52 to St. John's (17-7, 7-5) Friday night at the Al McGuire Center.

St. John's (11-3, 2-1) is led by a pair of seniors in Danaejah Grant and Aliyyah Handford with 18.6 and 18.5 points, respectively, which also ranks first and second in the BIG EAST standings. The Red Storm dropped their first conference game on Sunday in a 71-61 decision to Seton Hall, but opened league play defeating Providence and Creighton in road games.

Following Tuesday's game, MU will return home for the first time since Dec. 13 and host Villanova (Jan. 8) and Georgetown (Jan. 10).
