Marquette Downs Xavier, 74-69
The Marquette University women's basketball team (13-13, 8-7 BIG EAST) improved their home game winning-streak to seven games after defeating Xavier,74-69, at the Al McGuire Center Sunday afternoon, which sealed the season series at 1-1, with each team winning on its home court.

Allazia Blockton leads the league in scoring at 16.9 points per game, while the Musketeer's Raeshaun Gaffney is right behind her at 15.6 points and is third in the BIG EAST shooting 43.7 percent from beyond the arc.

MU has three players ranking in the conference's top-15 in scoring as Natisha Hiedeman checks in 12th with 14.1 points, while Erika Davenport is 14th with 12.8 points and is also shooting 57.0 percent from the field to rank second, and is nearly averaging a double-double bringing down 9.8 boards.

As a squad, MU's high scoring offense continues as the Golden Eagles rank second in the league with 77.0 points per contest, but will face a stingy Xavier squad that is allowing opponents to score just 58.3 points each night.

Last season MU and Xavier split the season series with each team winning on its home floor and the Golden Eagles own a slight 8-7 advantage in the series and have dropped just two games to the Musketeers in Milwaukee.

Following Friday, MU will host Butler on Sunday, Jan. 15 at Noon, live on FS1.
