Marquette Returns Home Saturday to Host St. John's

MILWAUKEE--Join the Marquette women's basketball team this Saturday, Jan. 16 at 4 p.m. Central time when it hosts "We Back Pat" night in support of the Pat Summitt Foundation during its contest against St. John's.
Marquette assistant coach Tyler Summitt and his mother Pat established the Pat Summitt Foundation in 2011 with a goal of finding a cure for Alzheimer's disease.
Marquette (12-3, 3-1) has won six of its past seven games, with its only loss during this time coming at the hands of Villanova in a 62-60 loss at the Al McGuire Center. The Golden Eagles come into to Saturday's action toting a 3-1 conference record, good for the third in the BIG EAST.
Senior Katherine Plouffe, the BIG EAST's leading scorer at 19.4 per contest, paces Marquette offensively leading the squad in both scoring and rebounding. Fellow senior Katie Young is putting up impressive offensive numbers, scoring 12.9 points per game and grabbing 8.7 boards per contest. Young and Plouffe have each notched six double doubles so far in 2013-14.
St. John's, who has also won six of its last seven, is led by sophomore guard Aliyyah Handford. The Newark, NJ, native leads the team in scoring at 17.6 points per game, good for third in the conference. The Red Storm also receives a strong contribution offensively from senior guard Briana Brown, who chips in 10.5 points per contest. In its most recent action, SJU (11-5, 4-1) defeated Butler at home 58-55.
As part of "We Back Pat" night, general admission tickets are on sale for just $1 and hot dogs and sodas will also be available at a special price of just $1. An autograph session with the team will also take place after the game has concluded.
