PINK OUT The Al Saturday Night Against Pittsburgh
Jan. 29, 2012
MILWAUKEE - The Marquette women's basketball team will host its seventh annual PINK OUT in support of breast cancer awareness on Saturday, Feb. 4, for the Golden Eagles' game against Pittsburgh. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at the Al McGuire Center.
Marquette's PINK OUT is part of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's "Play 4 Kay" initiative to help raise breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. Over 1,000 schools nationwide will assist in this effort Feb. 10-20.
Play 4 Kay, formerly known as the Pink Zone, is in honor of the late Kay Yow, former NC State University head women's basketball coach. She served as the catalyst for Play 4Kay after her third recurrence of breast cancer in 2006. Yow was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987, and passed away on January 24, 2009.
