Marquette Set to Host Rutgers Wednesday Night

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's basketball team returns home to the Al McGuire Center on Wednesday, Jan. 30, to take on Rutgers for a 7 p.m. tip.
The game's action will be streamed live, free of charge, on GoMarquette.com's multimedia platform, MUTube with Kent Sommerfeld on play-by-play and Kyle Dlaby as an analyst.
Marquette (10-9, 2-4 BIG EAST) suffered a 58-48 setback in its last game at USF on Jan. 26. Sophomore Arlesia Morse scored a team-high 15 points against the Bulls, while senior Sarina Simmons (eight points, eight rebounds) and junior Katherine Plouffe (10 points, nine rebounds) nearly posted double-doubles.
Plouffe leads the Golden Eagles in scoring and rebounding, averaging 13.2 points and 7.7 rebounds per contest. The Edmonton, Alberta, native's rebounding mark ranks her fifth in the BIG EAST Conference.
Rutgers (11-8, 2-4) enters the contest with MU coming off a 45-42 loss to Seton Hall on Sunday, Jan. 27. The Scarlet Knights are led by Erica Wheeler and Monique Oliver, who are averaging 10.6 and 10.3 points per game, respectively. As a team, Rutgers boasts one of the better defenses in the conference, holding opponents to 52.4 points per game.
The Scarlet Knights own a 10-0 advantage in the series history with Marquette. Last season, Rutgers notched a pair of wins over MU, including a 52-43 win in the second round of the BIG EAST Tournament.
