Marquette Travels to No. 3/2 Connecticut on Tuesday

MILWAUKEE - After collecting a 70-66 victory over DePaul in its last outing, the Marquette University women's basketball team begins a three-game road trip when it heads to Storrs, Conn., on Tuesday, Feb. 5 to take on No. 3/2 Connecticut at Gampel Pavillion. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m. Central time and Sports 32 will broadcast the game's action.

The two programs met earlier this season on Jan. 12 at the Al McGuire Center with UConn taking away a 85-51 victory. MU outscored the Huskies in the second half of the contest, 32-31.

Marquette (11-10, 3-5 BIG EAST) earned a hard-fought 70-66 win against conference-foe DePaul on Saturday, Feb. 2 at the Al McGuire Center. Sophomore Arlesia Morse (24 points) and junior Katherine Plouffe (18 points) combined to score 42 points in the victory. Morse was 8-of-14 shooting from the floor in the game, including connecting on four of her seven attempts from behind the arc. Plouffe chipped in seven rebounds and four assists to add to her point total.

The tandem of Plouffe and Morse has been MU's consistent source of offense all season. Plouffe is averaging a near-double-double on 13.4 points and eight rebounds a game, while also shooting 50.7 percent (116-229) from the field. Morse has posted 12.3 points per game and is leading the squad from deep with a 3-point percentage of 34.5.

Connecticut (20-1, 7-1 BIG EAST) is riding an eight-game winning streak and coming off a 71-65 victory at St. John's on Feb. 2. The Huskies have four players averaging double figures, led by sophomore Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis, who has scored 17 points per game this season.

Marquette has never beaten UConn in seven meetings.

After the game against Connecticut, MU will travel to Villanova on Sunday, Feb. 10 before concluding the road swing at Cincinnati on Feb. 13.
