Plouffe is Named CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District
Feb. 4, 2014
Marquette University's women's basketball senior Katherine Plouffe has been honored for her work in the classroom and on the court and has been selected to the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District 6 squad. This is Plouffe's first time earning the academic honor.
Plouffe has a 3.40 grade point average in communication studies and will graduate in May. She is the BIG EAST's leading scorer with 18.3 points per game and ranks second in rebounding with 10.1 boards per night. Plouffe has recorded eight double doubles this year, tallied seven 20+ point games and reached a career-high 33 points in an overtime victory at Georgetown on Jan. 4.
"This is a great honor for Katherine," head coach Terri Mitchell said. "It shows that her commitment to excellence is not only on the court, but in the classroom and everything she does. She embodies the true meaning of student-athlete and this award is a reflection of the work she puts in on a daily basis."
Plouffe will be automatically placed on the national Academic All-America ballot where first, second and third teams will be selected later in February. She is the first Marquette women's basketball player to be named to an academic all-district squad since Lisa Oldenburg in 2000.
Marquette is currently 14-6 overall and 5-4 in league play with nine regular season games remaining.
