Marquette Defeats Butler 91-53
The Marquette University women's basketball team collectively shot 56 percent from the field and earned a 91-53 victory at the Al McGuire Center on Sunday afternoon.

Friday's game will mark the second meeting between Marquette and Butler this season. The Bulldogs (5-18, 2-10) suffered a 91-53 loss on Jan. 15 to the Golden Eagles as they shot 12-of-25 from beyond the arc. Marquette held BU to 20-66 (30.3%) shooting from the field, while going 32-57 (56.1%) in the win.

The Golden Eagles are looking to bounce back with a win and keep up their strong conference play. Allazia Blockton figures to play a key role in head coach Carolyn Kieger's offensive strategy for the upcoming matchup. The BIG EAST's leading scorer and reigning Freshman of the Year dropped a team-best 20 points against BU in the last meeting between the two teams. Blockton currently sits at 979 career points and could easily reach her 1,000th career point this weekend, becoming the youngest Golden Eagle in history to accomplish the milestone.

Butler will look to get back on track as the team is currently on a seven-game losing streak, with its last win coming on Jan. 8 at Xaiver. The Bulldogs are led in scoring and rebounding by sophomore Tori Schickel, who averages a double-double with 14.3 points and 11.3 rebounds per game, the only league player averaging double digits.

Following the contest with the Bulldogs, Marquette will finish its last regular season road game of the year at Xaiver on Sunday, Feb. 12. The game is slated for 1 p.m. Central time and will also air on BEDN.
