MILWAUKEE—Allazia Blockton has been selected to the BIG EAST Weekly honor roll after a strong week that saw the Marquette women’s basketball team go 2-0 and Blockton average 21 points, eight rebounds and 3.5 assists.

The Golden Eagles had a strong road trip, besting both Xavier and Butler by almost 30-point margins. In the following game at Butler, she notched another double-double with 19 points and 11 boards. She had an extremely efficient week, shooting a scorching 58.6 percent, including a 50 percent mark from deep.

Blockton has already landed on the weekly awards seven times this season after being named to the honor roll five times and winning Player of the Week twice. The Preseason BIG EAST Player of the Year leads the BIG EAST in scoring (19.08 points per game), is fifth in field goal percentage (53 percent) and is eighth in rebounding (6.6 rebounds per game).

Additionally, with this week’s performance, Blockton continued her ascent in Marquette’s scoring ranks. She passed Arlesia Morse for ninth-highest all time and is just seven points away from passing Christine Kennedy for eighth place. The junior guard is currently on pace to become Marquette’s all-time leading scoring and potentially crack 2,000 career points for the first time in team history.

Blockton and the Golden Eagles head into the last home stand of the season this weekend, hosting Villanova Feb. 16 at 11:30 a.m. Central time and Georgetown Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. CT.
