Marquette Drops a 71-66 Decision at Xavier
Despite double-doubles from Allazia Blockton and Erika Davenport, another second-half rally fell just short as the Marquette women's basketball team could not surpass Xavier, falling 71-66 on Friday night at the Cintas Center.

The Golden Eagles (12-13, 7-7) earned a 76-69 victory over Butler on Friday night to complete the season sweep over the Bulldogs. Marquette is currently sitting in a tie for sixth place with Georgetown and would earn the No. 7 seed if the season ended today. Freshman Allazia Blockton leads the way with 18.6 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game. She tallied her league-leading 13th game with 20-or-more points on Friday as she posted 21 against Butler and pulled down a team-high 11 boards for her ninth double-double of the season. Fellow classmate Erika Davenport also posted a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Davenport continues to climb the ranks of BIG EAST rebounders as she sits seventh with 6.8 per game.

Xavier claimed the first meeting with the Golden Eagles, 71-66 in Cincinnati last month. In that game Marquette's second half rally fell short, despite a pair of double-doubles from Blockton and Davenport.

The Musketeers' three-game win streak ended at No. 23/24 DePaul on Friday night and moved to 17-7 (8-5 BIG EAST) on the year. Marquia Turner led Xavier with 14 points in Chicago, while Imani Partlow poured in 11 points.
