Marquette Begins Two-Game Road Trip Saturday

MILWAUKEE--The Marquette women's basketball is primed for an east coast road swing, in which it will make stops at Seton Hall and St. John's. MU (18-7, 9-5) begins its road trip with a matchup against the Pirates on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. Central time.
The Golden Eagles are fresh off an impressive 80-74 victory over DePaul. With the victory, MU snapped a nine-game winning streak by its counterparts from Chicago. After trailing 35-25 at the half Marquette managed to kick things into another gear, outscoring the Blue Demons by 16 in the second stanza. Senior Katherine Plouffe recorded her 10th double-double of season with 14 points and 12 rebounds and junior guard Arlesia Morse fueled the second half comeback with 12 of her team-high 17 points in the final 20 minutes.
DePaul entered the contest seventh in NCAA Division I in points per game and was held 10 points below its scoring average. The Blue Demons' 73 points is their second lowest total of the season.
Seton Hall (15-8, 6-10) utilized a 24-14 run late in the second half to take care of the Providence Friars 82-72 in its most recent action on Tuesday, Feb. 18. The trio of Ka-Deidre Simmons, Alexis Brown and Tabatha Richardson-Smith paced SHU's offensive attack, scoring 49 of its 82 points.
Saturday's action features the second- and third-highest scoring teams in the BIG EAST Conference. Marquette checks in at 73.8 points per contest, while Seton Hall follows at 71.2.
After its matchup against Seton Hall, Marquette travels to St. John's for a key BIG EAST matchup on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 6 p.m. CT.
