MILWAUKEE - Marquette University women's basketball junior guard Allazia Blockton has been selected to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after clinching the league's leading scorer title, averaging 20.0 points per contest over the weekend. She also lead the Golden Eagles to a share of their first regular-season title.
Blockton started out with 21 points at Seton Hall on Friday and lead MU with 19 points at St. John's on Sunday. The Milwaukee, Wis. native became the Golden Eagles' first BIG EAST scoring champion and helped lead MU to a share of their first regular-season title with the pair of victories. Marquette also receicves the No. 1 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament taking place in Chicago, Ill., from March 3-6.
Blockton also passed Lisa Oldenburg for seventh all-time in Marquette history during the weekend's action.
It's Blockton's eighth conference weekly award after being named Player of the Week twice and landing on the honor roll for the sixth time.
Blockton and the Golden Eagles will play the winner of No. 8 Butler/No. 9 Providence in the BIG EAST Tournament on March 4 at Wintrust Arena.
