HARTFORD, Conn. – Marquette's Katherine Plouffe was named to the All-BIG EAST Conference Second Team, while Brooklyn Pumroy was selected to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team, the league office announced Thursday afternoon.

Plouffe has earned All-BIG EAST postseason honors each year of her three-year career as a Golden Eagle. She was named to the All-BIG EAST Freshman Team in 2010-11 and was an All-BIG EAST Honorable Mention as a sophomore. This year, the junior forward has scored in double-figures in 20 games with seven double-doubles. She scored a season and career best of 24 points against Central Michigan on Jan. 3 and became the 23rd player in women's basketball history to reach 1,000 points against Cincinnati on March 4.

Plouffe is ranked 22nd in the league for scoring and tied for fifth in double-doubles. She is fourth in the BIG EAST in rebounding, and has tied her season high of 13 rebounds three times this season. Plouffe leads the team with 13.0 points per game and 7.5 rebounds.

Pumroy has reached double figures in scoring eight times in her debut season. The freshman earned her first collegiate start at Georgia Tech on Nov. 18 and has stayed in the starting lineup every game since. The point guard achieved a career-best 17 points in a overtime victory against South Dakota State on Nov. 28 and averages 7.6 points and 2.3 per game for the Golden Eagles.

The All-BIG EAST First Team spans student-athletes from eight schools and is highlighted by three players who were unanimous first team selections: Connecticut sophomore forward Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis, Notre Dame senior guard Skylar Diggins and USF senior guard Andrea Smith.

Syracuse senior guard Carmen Tyson-Thomas earned the BIG EAST Sixth Man Award and Connecticut senior guard Kelly Faris was chosen as the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year.
