Golden Eagles to Take On Illinois in WNIT First Round
March 14, 2006 The Marquette women's basketball team will host Illinois in a first round game in the Women's National Invitation Tournament on Friday night at the Al McGuire Center. Game time is set for 7 p.m. "We're looking forward to beginning play in the 2006 WNIT." said head coach Terri Mitchell. "After we find out which team we will be facing, we'll get our scouting reports together and prepare our team for postseason play." The selection into the 40-team field marks the fourth consecutive postseason berth for MU, which has compiled an 18-10 overall record, which includes a 9-7 mark in the program's first season in the BIG EAST Conference. Marquette was a participant in the 2005 WNIT, dropping a 66-57 at home to Nebraska. The Golden Eagles are 2-4 all-time in WNIT/NWIT play
