ATLANTA, Ga. -- Marquette University women's basketball junior guard Allazia Blockton has been selected as a 2018 Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-Region 4 honoree for the second consecutive year, the WBCA announced this afternoon.

With the accolade, Blockton is now one of 52 candidates for 10 spots on the 2018 WBCA Division I Coaches All-America team. The roster will be announced Thursday, March 29 during the WBCA Convention in Columbus, Ohio as part of the NCAA Women's Final Four.

The Milwaukee, Wis. native had a year for the books. Blockton started off the 2017-18 season by being placed on the Meyers Drysdale Award Watch List, alongside being named the unanimous Preseason BIG EAST Player of the Year.

Blockton averaged 19.1 points per game to command the Golden Eagles and ranked as the league's leading scorer. Blockton scored a then-career-high 32 points to take Marquette to its second straight BIG EAST Tournament Championship. She was honored as BIG EAST Player of the Year and BIG EAST Scholar Athlete, as well.

The junior ended her third season strong, recording a career-high 34 points in Marquette's last game, a 90-72 loss to No. 1-seeded Louisville in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Blockton's performance pushed her past Kristen Maskala's 25-year-old record for most points in a single season (Blockton -- 648 points; Maskala -- 635 points).

Blockton now sits at 1,774 career-points and No. 3 all-time at MU heading into her senior year. She is on-pace to become Marquette's next all-time leading scorer, a record that has stood for nearly a decade (Krystal Ellis -- 1,940 points; 2005-2009).

The Golden Eagles finished the 2017-18 season with a 24-10 record and its second straight NCAA Tournament berth at the No. 8 seed. MU also notched back-to-back BIG EAST Tournament Championship appearances, won the regular season crown and head coach Carolyn Kieger was named BIG EAST Co-Coach of the Year.
