Allazia Blockton is an Honorable Mention All-American

DALLAS--Marquette University sophomore women's basketball player Allazia Blockton has been selected to the 2017 WBCA NCAA Division I Coaches' All-America honorable mention team it was announced Saturday at the WBCA Convention in Dallas, Texas.

The Milwaukee, Wisconsin native led Marquette and the BIG EAST Conference with 17.1 points per game and was a unanimous selection to the All-BIG EAST First Team. Blockton became Marquette's youngest player to reach 1,000 career points and the 25th in program history and has already jumped to 21st all-time with 1,126 points after two seasons.

This is the first All-American award for Marquette since Katherine Plouffe was selected in 2014 and Krystal Ellis in 2007. The Golden Eagles finished with a 25-8 record this season and earned a program-best fifth seed in the NCAA Tournament, which was the first appearance for the squad since 2011. Marquette also claimed its first-ever BIG EAST Tournament title, winning the crown on its home court in early March.
