NASHVILLE, Tenn.--Marquette University senior women's basketball player Katherine Plouffe has been named a 2014 Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division I Coaches' All-America Honorable Mention, the WBCA announced over the weekend at Final Four festivities.
Plouffe is the first All-America selection for Marquette since Krystal Ellis was also on the honorable mention squad in 2007.
The Edmonton, Alberta native led Marquette all season and concluded her final year averaging 17.1 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. Plouffe will leave MU as its ninth all-time scorer with 1,551 points and 4th all-time rebounder with 973 career boards. She was named All-BIG EAST First Team and was the 2014 BIG EAST Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Plouffe was second in the league this season with 14 double-doubles and scored 30+ points in two games. She also broke the Golden Eagles' single-game rebounding record with 26 against Indiana State in the WNIT first round, which was also a WNIT record.
The Golden Eagles finished with a 22-11 overall record and went 11-7 in the BIG EAST, finishing in fifth place.
