MILWAUKEE - The record-breaking season for the Marquette women's basketball team came to a close Sunday afternoon as it held its annual end of the season senior celebration at Marquette's Union Sports Annex. Over 125 family members, friends, supporters and administrators were in attendance to help celebrate the 2006-07 season and the careers of seniors Danielle Kamm, Jasmine McCullough, Efueko Osagie-Landry and Christina Quaye.

"The beauty of coaching is being able to know and feel the heartbeat of the team," said BIG EAST Coach of the Year Terri Mitchell. "We have four seniors whose leadership was so wonderful and an inspiration to this team, and seven others who are just as wonderful. This is what we are here to celebrate today, not only a great season, but also the careers of four very special women. One day basketball will end, but at the end of the day it is what you take with it is what really matters."

Quaye was named the team's Most Valuable Performer, it was the second time of her career she has earned the honor. Quaye was previously tabbed MVP for the 2004-05 season. A First Team All-BIG EAST selection, Quaye was second on the team in scoring with 16.0 points per game. In BIG EAST play she was the Golden Eagles top scorer with 19.0 ppg. Quaye finished her career at Marquette with 1,720 points and 754 rebounds. She is one of five players in program history to registers over 1,500 points and 700 rebounds for her career.

Sophomore All-American Krystal Ellis was named the Most Valuable Offensive Player. Marquette's other First Team All-BIG EAST Selection, Ellis led the team in scoring averaging 18.0 ppg.

Osagie-Landry was selected as the Golden Eagles' Most Valuable Defensive Player, and for the third straight season, McCullough was chosen as the player who most exemplifies the skills of a leader taking home the Leadership Award.

Freshmen Janelle Harris and Jocelyn Mellen did not go home empty handed as Harris was honored with the Tenacity Award and Mellen with the Outstanding Teammate Award for her contributions on the sidelines as well as in practice.

Rounding out the awards was Mary Ellen Markowski, a loyal fan and supporter of Marquette Athletics, selected as the Charles "Gordie" Baker Exceptional Fan award.
