Women's Basketball Announces 2009-10 Promotional Schedule

April 24, 2008

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's basketball players and coaches will join the Marquette community in the Relay For Life on Friday, April 25. The 12-hour event will begin at 6 p.m. and continue through the overnight hours until 6 a.m., at Valley Fields.

The Relay For Life has long been the American Cancer Society's signature event, raising both awareness and money towards the ultimate goal of eliminating cancer as a major health concern.

At the event, teams and team members take turns walking laps around the track overnight, representing the fact that cancer never sleeps. Relay For Life brings together survivors, supporters, and people who have been touched by those who lost their battles with cancer to connect with others, share experiences, and find comfort within one another.

Freshmen Jocelyn Mellen and Paige Fiedorowicz will serve as team captains during the event.

Those interested in sponsoring the women's basketball Relay For Life team can contact Carolyn Kieger at (414) 288-3241 or by email at carolyn.kieger@mu.edu.
