Terri Mitchell Named Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Division I Women's Coach of the Year
May 17, 2007 MILWAUKEE - Marquette women's basketball head coach Terri Mitchell earned a second coach of the year honor for the 2006-07 season as she was tabbed the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division I Women's Coach of the Year. The award will be presented to Mitchell at the WBCA Hall of Fame Banquet on Oct. 6, in Madison, Wis. This is Mitchell's first such honor from the WBCA. She took home her first BIG EAST Coach of the Year accolade last March. Mitchell, who just finished her 11th season as head coach, guided the Golden Eagles to their best season ever with a 26-7 overall record and its first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 2004. With its 12-4 BIG EAST mark, Marquette finished the regular season tied for second place in the conference and earned the no. 3 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament. After being picked eighth in the preseason poll, Marquette started the season winning 15 of its first 16 games, and jumped into the national polls for the first time since the 1999-2000 season. Mitchell won her 200th career game at Oakland on December 9, 2006, and owns a 217-116 career record at Marquette.
