MILWAUKEE - For the second consecutive year, Marquette women's basketball coach Terri Mitchell was tabbed the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division I Women's Coach of the Year. The award will be presented to Mitchell at the WBCA Hall of Fame Banquet on October 18, in Madison, Wis.

"Any honor I receive is ultimately about the players and what they have done to be the best student-athletes they can be," said Mitchell. "Myself, along with all of the coaches involved in this program, are so fortunate to lead them. This honor is for the program. There are such great coaches in the state of Wisconsin and to be chosen means a lot to me as well as to our program."

Mitchell, who finished her 12th season as head coach, led the Golden Eagles to their first ever Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) Championship with an 81-66 win at Michigan State. The championship marked the school's fourth national title and first since 1977. Marquette finished the season with a 21-14 overall record that was capped by a season-high five game win streak during its run to the WNIT Championship.

She was recently selected to the 2008 USA Basketball Women's U18 National Team coaching staff. Mitchell will begin her time with USA Basketball in June when the team selection process commences at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
