Women's Basketball Announces 2011-12 BIG EAST Opponents

MILWAUKEE - The BIG EAST Conference announced the home and away league schedule of opponents for the 2011-12 women's basketball season Monday. Highlighting Marquette's conference home schedule are contests national semifinalist Connecticut and Sweet 16 participant Georgetown.
Along with the Huskies and the Hoyas, the Golden Eagles welcome Pittsburgh, Providence, Seton Hall, USF and Villanova to the Al McGuire Center.
For the seventh consecutive year the format for league play is a 16-game schedule. Each team plays 16 conference games - seven opponents home only, seven opponents away only and one repeat opponent, home and away. Each member has a total of eight home and eight away games. Marquette will face Cincinnati at the Al McGuire Center and Fifth Third Arena.
The Golden Eagles will face eight teams on the road, including DePaul, Louisville, Notre Dame, Rutgers, St. John's Syracuse and West Virginia.
The BIG EAST landed a record nine teams in the 2011 NCAA Championship and one team in the WNIT.
The complete 2011-12 women's basketball schedule will be released at a later date.
