HARTLAND, Wis. - Thanks to contributions by many Milwaukee-area businesses and individual donors, the Marquette women's basketball team enjoyed another successful day at the Tee It Up for Hoops golf outing. Over 100 friends and family of the Golden Eagles enjoyed golf under sunny skies at Bristlecone Pines Golf Club in Hartland, Wis. This year the outing generated over $30,000 for the women's basketball program.

Mary Ellen Markowski and women's basketball executive assistant Monica Schwarz served as the executive committee for the outing.

"Tee It Up for Hoops was a tremendous event that not only gave us the opportunity to celebrate women's basketball at Marquette, but to look ahead to all of the great things in store for the future," said head coach Terri Mitchell. "We owe so much gratitude and thanks to Mary Ellen and Monica for their efforts and ensuring it was a success. We know times are tough for many in this economy, so we are very thankful for the generosity of our supporters to continue to help our program be among the best in the BIG EAST Conference. Our staff and players had a wonderful time and we are already looking forward to next year's event"

The 8 a.m. shot-gun start outing featured a par-3 challenge along with longest and shortest drive contests at various holes where Mitchell, members of her staff and players were stationed throughout the course.

After the 18 holes were complete, participants feasted on a bountiful lunch and enjoyed a live auction by the voice of Marquette basketball, Steve "The Homer" True.

Next year's Tee It Up for Hoops golf outing is set for June 15, 2010 at Bristlecone Pines Golf Club. For more information about how to get involved with Tee It Up for Hoops, please contact Monica Schwarz in the women's basketball office at 414-288-5784.
