Marquette Releases Non-Conference Schedule
July 7, 2014
MILWAUKEE--Head coach Carolyn Kieger has announced the 2014-15 non-conference schedule for the Marquette University women's basketball squad. The Golden Eagles will play eight home contests at the Al McGuire Center, including an exhibition before the season opener on Nov. 15.
"We are very excited about our non-conference schedule, "Kieger said. "We play some of the best teams in the country to prepare for BIG EAST play and have some tough road games that will really test our squad. We will also give our fans some exciting games against top teams in the Al McGuire Center. We are up for the challenge and look forward to playing one of the top schedules."
After hosting Lewis University in an exhibition on Sunday, Nov. 9, Marquette will officially open the 2014-15 season on Saturday, Nov. 15 hosting in-state foe, UW-Green Bay. The Golden Eagles have a quick turnaround before welcoming Loyola-Chicago to the Al on Monday, Nov. 17.
Following two home games, MU will travel to North Carolina and face its first road test at Wake Forest (Nov. 21) and at Duke (11/23). The Golden Eagles faced the Blue Devils in Milwaukee last season falling 78-61 to the then- No. 2 ranked squad. Duke reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2014 before falling to BIG EAST member DePaul.
Marquette continues its newly-revived series against Milwaukee on Wednesday, Nov. 26 at the Al and will host South Dakota on Nov. 29. Back-to-back road games begin at Auburn on Tuesday, Dec. 2 and conclude with the annual showdown against in-state rival Wisconsin in Madison on Saturday, Dec. 6.
The Golden Eagles will also host Northern Kentucky (Dec. 15), Vanderbilt (Dec. 18) and Western Illinois (Dec. 21) before beginning BIG EAST play.
Marquette returns seven players from a year ago and will welcome four newcomers this season, along with Kieger and her staff.
