Rachel Sander Hired as Director of Program Development

MILWAUKEE--Rachel Sander joins the Marquette University women's basketball program as Director of Program Development, head coach Carolyn Kieger announced this week.
In the role, Sander will work as a liaison to the communication, marketing and fundraising staff, coordinate community service projects for the team and assist with team travel.
"I am extremely excited to be welcoming Rachel to the Marquette family," Kieger said. "I could not be more thrilled to be working back alongside her. She brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our program that will benefit our team, fans and community. Rachel has an amazing way with people and I know the entire Marquette community will gravitate towards her."
Sander spent five seasons as the director of women's basketball operations at the University of Miami. She was responsible for day-to-day operations of the women's basketball program, scheduled practice, coordinated team travel and managed community and donor relations. In 2009-10 she obtained a $37,000 marketing grant from the NCAA to improve ticket sales and attendance figures.
Sander joins Marquette after serving as assistant rowing coach at the University of Tennessee. The Volunteers finished as runner-up at the Conference-USA Championship and Sander coached the 2V8 to a first place finish at the conference championship.
Prior to Tennessee, Sander was assistant rowing coach at Nova Southeastern University where she helped the program to a Sunshine State Conference championship in 2012, back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Division II National Championship and the program's first national title in 2013.
Sander also spent two seasons as the rowing coordinator at the University of Miami.
Sander was a four-time letter winner with the Miami rowing team from 2000-2004 and served as a co-captain during her senior year. She helped the team to a program-best runner-up finish at the 2004 BIG EAST Championships. A 2004 graduate from the University of Miami, Sander earned her Bachelor's Degree in both history and marine affairs and graduated in 2008 with a Master's of Science in Education in sport administration.
