MILWAUKEE - Marquette sophomore-to-be Katherine Plouffe has a busy month ahead of her training with the Canadian Under-19 Women's National Team in Toronto, Ontario. The team is set to participate in the FIBA U19 World Women's Basketball Championship July 21-31 in Puerto Monte, Chile.

No stranger to playing with Team Canada, Plouffe was been a member of the Canadian Junior National Team, which placed third at the U18 FIBA America World Qualifier and qualified for the U19 Women's World Championship. She also was a member of the U15 and U17 Alberta Provincial Teams.

Plouffe earned BIG EAST All-Freshman Team honors as a Golden Eagle during the 2010-11 season with averages of 6.5 points per game and 5.1 rebounds per game.

Canada, which is 12th in the FIBA world rankings, has qualified for the past four U19 World Championships. The Canadians posted their best result at the 2009 event in Bangkok, Thailand, finishing fourth. Argentina beat Canada 58-51 in the bronze medal game.

Canada opens Group A play against China on July 21, then faces Egypt on July 22 and Italy on July 23.
