Campers Learn While Having Fun at Marquette Women's Basketball Camp
Aug. 5, 2010
MILWAUKEE - Over 130 campers filled the Al McGuire Center arena floor this week at Marquette women's basketball day camp. Day camp provided young girls in first through eighth grades a chance to work with some of the BIG EAST Conference's finest players and coaches where they worked on individual skill development, position work, competitive drills and fundamental skill work. The atmosphere is fun, yet the campers still work hard and end the week improved. Here is what campers and camp counselors alike had to say about their favorite thing at camp, what they have learned and why they come back. Angel Robinson: "It's all about the kids. I love teaching the kids." Tatiyiana McMorris: "I enjoy teaching and working with the kids. It's a chance for me to give back and teach kids about the game I love so much." Sarina Simmons: "For me, it takes me back to when I went to camp when I was a kid. It's great to be able to inspire kids to follow their dreams." Jenna: "There are lots of things I like about camp, but the stations are my favorite, mainly agility. I come to camp because I want to get better." Alana: "I have improved a lot, my shooting, dribbling, everything has improved since I started at camp." Cassidy: I asked to be moved up to play with the older girls to challenge myself. It is a bigger challenge and it makes me a stronger player." Tessa: "Paige has taught me to use my height to rebound, to box out, and to shoot up, not out. I have learned a lot."
