Women's Basketball Unveils 2011-12 Schedule

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's basketball team has announced it 2011-12 schedule. On the docket this season for the Golden Eagles are 12 teams that earned a berth in the 2011 NCAA Championship.

Highlighting the team's schedule are five appearances on national and regional television.

Marquette will host Villanova (Jan. 10), Georgetown (Jan. 17) and USF (Feb. 14) for games broadcast live on CBS Sports Network, play at DePaul (Feb. 12) on ESPN2 for the WBCA's Play 4Kay initiative and will play at Syracuse (Feb. 18) live on BIG EAST Network.

The Golden Eagles open the 2011-12 campaign with three straight home games starting with Mississippi Valley State on Saturday, Nov. 12. Marquette will host Wisconsin (Nov. 15) and Georgia Tech (Nov. 19 at the Bradley Center) before traveling to St. Thomas, USVI for the U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam. In St. Thomas, the Golden Eagles will face Washington State (Nov. 24), Prairie View A&M (Nov. 25) and Michigan (Nov. 26).

Dates with New Orleans (Nov. 29), Green Bay (Dec. 2) and Arkansas Pine-Bluff (Dec. 4) will precede its first conference road trip where MU will play at national finalist Notre Dame to open its seventh season of BIG EAST play on Dec. 7.

Marquette returns home to host three games against Iona (Dec. 10), South Dakota State (Dec. 19), and Vermont (Dec. 21) before closing out the non-conference portion of its season at Toledo on New Year's Eve.

Following the conference lidlifter against the Fighting Irish, BIG EAST play doesn't get any easier as MU will travel Louisville, who advanced to the Sweet 16 last season, at the KFC Yum! Center on Jan. 3.

Along with hosting the Wildcats and Hoyas, Marquette also welcomes Seton Hall (Jan. 7) and Providence to the Al McGuire Center during the month of January. The Golden Eagles will travel to St. John's (Jan. 15) and West Virginia (Jan. 28).

Marquette will spend the latter part of February on the road after Cincinnati (Feb. 1) and Pittsburgh (Feb. 4) make trips to Milwaukee as the Golden Eagles play four of their final six conference games away from the Al McGuire Center traveling to DePaul, Syracuse, Cincinnati (Feb. 21) and Rutgers (Feb. 27).

The Golden Eagles will close out the home portion of their schedule on Saturday, Feb. 25 against seven-time NCAA Champion Connecticut.

The BIG EAST Championship, which will include all 16 teams again in 2012, is set for March 2-6 at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn.

Remaining game times will be announced at a later date.

Season tickets are currently on sale and start at just $40. The Family Plan includes two adult and two youth (17and under) season tickets and can be purchased for as little as $100 for the entire season.
