2013-14 WBB Schedule | BIG EAST Release

MILWAUKEE--The Marquette University women's basketball team's conference schedule is set and the Golden Eagles will play five BIG EAST Conference Saturday home games at the Al McGuire Center, the league office announced on Wednesday afternoon.

MU will open conference play at Butler on Saturday, Dec. 28, before returning to the Al to host Villanova in the BIG EAST homeopener on Dec. 31. In the new 10-team conference, each program plays the other nine teams in home-and-home series during the regular season.

"We are very excited about the schedule that we have put together. Our non-conference schedule is a very competitive national schedule that will prepare us for the rigors of the BIG EAST," head coach Terri Mitchell said." We will be challenged early, but we know that it will be a good test for us as we enter conference play. "I am thrilled that our fan base will get to see us play every team in the conference at home this season with the new format for the league. It will be a balanced schedule with every team playing each other twice."

The Golden Eagles will be featured on national television on two occasions this season. In non-conference action, MU will host Duke, Nov. 24 and in league play will host Creighton in the final home game of the season, Saturday, March 1.  Both games will be televised on the BIG EAST's new partner, FOX Sports 1. Fox will also televise the semifinals and finals of the 2014 BIG EAST Championship, which will be held March 10-11 at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill. The tournament begins March 8 with the first round played at DePaul University.

Including the non-conference schedule, fans can see the Golden Eagles play at home seven Saturdays and one Sunday (Duke, Nov. 24).

The remaining game times for the Golden Eagles will be announced at a later date and times are subject to change.
