MILWAUKEE - Members of the Marquette University women's basketball team spent time Wednesday afternoon at LaVarnway Boys and Girls Club in Milwaukee hosting a basketball clinic for children in first through eighth grades.

While at LaVarnway, the Golden Eagles spoke about the importance of excellence in academics as well as in athletics, hard work and what it takes to be a student-athlete. They also split up into four stations to work on ball-handling, shooting and agility drills.

Following the skills session, the children had the opportunity to ask the Marquette student-athletes questions about their lives as student-athletes and their goals for the future.

The Golden Eagles visited the LaVarnway in conjunction with their on-going work with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee.
