Marquette Madness Tips Off 2016-17 Season Oct. 7

Marquette University men’s and women’s basketball fans will get their first look at the 2016-17 teams on Friday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. when the programs host the annual Marquette Madness event in the Al McGuire Center.

Admission is free, but capacity in the 3,700-seat arena is limited, and doors to the Al McGuire Center will open at 6:30 p.m. Those in possession of a wristband, which will begin to be distributed at 3 p.m., will earn entrance not only to Madness, but also the free Homecoming Block Party across the street from the Al.

While wristbands are not required for entrance to the block party, they will be mandatory for access to Madness. All seating is general admission, but only Gold wristbands will be allowed in the lower bowl and Blue wristbands provide a seat in the upper level.

Golden Eagle fans not able to attend the event will be able to watch live coverage beginning at 7 p.m. in the Southeast Wisconsin market, courtesy of Time Warner Cable SportsChannel (available on channel 32 and HD channel 1332 on Time Warner Cable systems). Dennis Krause and JP Cadorin will host the broadcast, which will include exclusive content, including interviews with players and other special guests. The program will feature multiple replay appearances, including 1 p.m. CT on Sunday, Oct. 9. Time Warner Cable customers will also be able to stream the live broadcast at with their account login information.

The Homecoming Block Party opens at 4:30 p.m. and features live music, player autograph sessions (no post-Madness opportunities), inflatable activities and pay-as-you-go food options. For those fans who choose to watch Marquette Madness from the block party, a large video wall will feature the TWC SportsChannel broadcast.

  • Student knockout contest final
