USA Today Preseason Top-25 Coaches Poll

MCLEAN, Va. - The Marquette University women's basketball team debuted at No. 19 in the USA Today Preseason Top-25 Coaches Poll, the program's highest-ever preseason ranking.

The Golden Eagles received 218 points in the poll, slotting them one spot ahead of BIG EAST rival DePaul (156 points), while Villanova is receiving votes. Connecticut tops the poll, followed by defending National Champion South Carolina at No. 2.

It's Marquette's first time back in the rankings since 2011, when it ranked as high as No. 21. The Golden Eagles are also receiving votes in the ESPN Coaches Poll. Marquette was also selected the unanimous favorite in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches Poll, while junior Allazia Blockton was unanimously selected as BIG EAST Preseason Player of the Year.

MU is coming off of its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2011 after winning the BIG EAST Conference Tournament and finishing with a record of 25-8.

The Golden Eagles tip off the 2017-18 season on the road at New Mexico on Monday, Nov. 13, followed by the home opener on Sunday, Nov. 16 against Loyola Maryland.
