The Golden Eagles return four starters from last season's squad that went 16-16 overall and earned a berth into the WNIT. Senior captain Katherine Plouffe's is the leading scorer returning. Plouffe was an All-BIG EAST selection last season and averaged 12.6 points per game, and reached the 1,000 point scoring plateau. Along with Plouffe, leadership for MU will come from fellow captains, senior Katie Young and junior Apiew Ojulu.

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons are coming off a 13-19 overall record from the 2012-13 season, the inaugural season of head coach Jen Hoover. Five seniors led the Deacons through the campaign, with two of the five earning 1,000 career points.

The squad returns six players from last season's team including standout senior point guard Chelsea Douglas who has not missed a single game in her three years at Wake Forest and was named to the Preseason All-ACC Team. Douglas led the team in scoring with 14.6 ppg last season, recording 72 three-pointers that landed her at third-highest total in school history.

The Deacs are chosen to finish 12th in the newly formed 15-team ACC. Wake Forest will now face ex-BIG EAST Conference opponents Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and Syracuse in conference play.

The Golden Eagles have won their last 10 season-opening contests which gives them a 24-14 all-time mark. Last season, MU defeated now-conference opponent Butler Bulldogs in a 73-62 decision in the season lidlifter.

Marquette will continue its two-game home-streak, hosting Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Monday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m.
